Why Visit The Gorgeous Haida Gwaii

Haida Gwaii is a group of islands, located on the Northern part of British Columbia, Canada. Haida Gwaii is formerly known as Queen Charlotte Islands and is a gorgeous place to travel. The islands consist of quaint villages, white sand beaches and much more. The BC government changed the name of these islands in 2009 for historical reasons. The name was not officially changed; however, until June 3, 2010, when the Haida Gwaii Reconciliation Act was signed.
Haida Gwaii is an outdoorsman’s paradise. These islands are considered unique rainforests, and have a lot to offer for those who enjoy outdoor sports. People, who visit these islands, often come to kayak, fish, bike and hike. There are two main islands here, Graham Island and Moresby Island, but there are over 150 smaller islands in this region as well. Visitors often take advantage of seeing the outdoors by visiting the Gwaii Haanas National Park and Haida Protected Area. In this area, fishermen catch salmon and many other types of fish.
Guests, visiting the islands, can travel there by either plane or boat. Because these are islands, there are not roads that travel there. There are several ferries that offer rides for guests, and there are two main airports to bring guests there by plane. When people visit Haida Gwaii, they often stay at various types of accommodations. There are numerous options, including rustic cabins, motels, lodges, cottages, guest houses, bed and breakfasts and beach huts. When booking plans to visit these islands, guests should keep in mind that the busiest time of year is their summer season, which lasts from May through September. Many types of accommodations actually close during the winter months. Also located in this area, are numerous campgrounds. These are ideal for people who visit this area for outdoor activities, such as fishing, boating and kayaking.
